College football player dies in car accident

A young man in North Carolina was a standout high school football player, and he wound up at Winston-Salem State University to continue his career on the field. However, he was tragically killed in a recent car accident. He was in his freshman year at the school, and he was just 18 years old.

The young man was from Fayetteville, and he had taken a weekend trip back to visit his home and his family. Right around 4:00 p.m. on November 19, he was involved in a car accident that left two people dead. One of the vehicles caught on fire, making it impossible for police to identify the second victim at this time.

Reports also claimed that three vehicles were involved in the tragic wreck, though details about exactly how it played out had not been released yet. The police investigation is ongoing.

The young man's college coach did put out a statement in his honor, saying: "Johnathan was an inspiration on and off the field to those around him and he will be remembered with love and affection by his friends, coaches and teammates."

Stories like this always hit close to home because they show how even young people with their whole lives ahead of them can suddenly have their futures taken away. It's devastating for their families and friends.

While it is true that financial compensation cannot make up for this loss, the reality is that an unexpected death is costly -- not only emotionally but also economically. To help reduce financial stress during an already difficult time, family members need to know if they have a right to financial compensation.
